Task management application designed by Microsoft to serve as a replacement for the discontinued Wunderlist, with most of the same features and a few enhancements
What's new in Microsoft To Do 2.42:
- We have made some accessibility bug fixes.
Back in 2015, Microsoft acquired Wunderlist, and in 2017, they announced it would be replaced by Microsoft To Do, the company's own task management app. However, it wasn't until December 2019 that the former was finally discontinued, with Wunderlist users encouraged to make the transition to the new app.
Microsoft To Do, like all of the company's cloud-based software, is designed to be integrated with Microsoft 365. And, thanks to the developer's somewhat recent change in direction, it is available on many other platforms, including macOS.
It certainly looks like Wunderlist
While Microsoft has touched up the UI, refined it based on modern standards, and added a dark mode, the interface looks almost exactly like that of later Wunderlist releases. It features almost the exact same layout, with minor changes, something Wunderlist users will likely appreciate.
If you aren't a fan of the app's default look, there are plenty of other themes to choose from. Some of them change the color of certain titles and UI elements, while others add image backgrounds. Sadly, the app can't do both at once, and you can't customize the themes in any way.
Relatively simple to-do list manager
In a nutshell, Microsoft To Do is designed for people who need a straightforward task manager, especially those who don't like to plan in the long term. You can just add all the things you want to accomplish, and the app will provide suggestions for the 'My Day' section every day.
Of course, the app comes with some advanced features as well, but nothing too confusing. You can create lists, set up reminders, attach files, and even add multiple steps to each task. Last but not least, you can share your lists with friends or team members and assign tasks as well.
Support for multiple devices and Microsoft 365 integration
Since being rebranded from Office 365, Microsoft 365 has become a realistic option for home users too. If you do have this subscription, you'll be happy to know that to-dos can be synced with Outlook Tasks, and you can create tasks from various other included services.
Of course, no cloud-based service is any good without cross-platform support. Thankfully, Microsoft To Do is also available for Windows, iOS, and Android, in addition to being accessible directly from the web.
In the end, Microsoft To Do is a very capable task manager that most Wunderlist users should be happy with. It includes all of the latter's core features, with some modifications here and there, and it is a great option for those who want a simple way to organize their daily activities.

Volunteers, not Amateurs
8 January 2013: Apache OpenOffice is developed 100% by volunteers. Apache does not pay for developers, for translators, for QA, for marketing, for UI, for support, etc. Of course, we're happy to accept donations to the Apache Software Foundation, to keep our servers runnings and for similar overhead expenses. But our products are developed entirely by volunteers.
